Working with silver clay

This new material is a wonderful way for jewellery makers to enter the world of silver jewellery making without having to learn the complex skills needed to work with sheets of silver. Anyone can use this one day workshop to learn how to use this very simple material to make silver charms, silver beads or silver pendants. You will also have the opportunity to learn how to make a mould that can be used again and again to make charms from silver clay.

All materials used on this day are included in the price of the workshop. Tea and coffee will be available, but you will need to bring a packed lunch.
Fusing glass for jewellery
£85, Saturday March 26th 2011, 10.00 - 16.00

This is a one day introductory class where you will produce a number of small pieces of glass that can be made in to jewellery. You will learn about the process of making this beautiful gladd and will be provided with everything that you need for the day to make a selection of glass pieces. Each student is given a number of different fittings that can be used with the glass (such as bails to be glued onto the back of the domed glass cabochon, plus a broach fitting). Silver chokers and leather thong may be bought at the studio if needed.
The fusing and slumping of the glass in the kiln will take place after the workshop and the results can be collected or posted at Post Office rates.

Beads made with textiles

This is a mid-week workshop to bring your apron to! It will help to bring out the inner child in you!
We will be using silk, threads, wool, paper, paint, wire and beads to make wonderful pieces of one-of-a-kind creative art jewellery.
We will start the day by making felt beads with un-spun wool and silk threads. We will then go on to make silk paper that we will colour and work with to make beads. I will show you lots of examples of jewellery that has been made from the techniques that you have learnt, and show you how to make your beads into unique pieces of beautiful jewellery. You will leave this workshop with lots of new beads and full of new ideas for using them.

Lampwork glass bead making

Learn to make your own stunning beads using glass in our lampwork beading class. You will be guided through the process of making glass beads and will spend the day learning a range of techniques for making your very own beautiful glass beads. Each class is one-on-one to ensure maximum attention.
At the end of the day, you will be able to take home lots of examples that you will be able to use to make your own beautiful jewellery.
